L'OMC lance le 15鑝e cours de politique commerciale

Au cours d'une br鑦e c閞閙onie qui s'est tenue ce jour, M. Paul-Henri Ravier, Directeur g閚閞al adjoint de l'Organisation mondiale du commerce, a ouvert officiellement le 15鑝e cours de politique commerciale organis?sous l'間ide de l'OMC.

Au nom du Directeur g閚閞al de l'OMC, M. Mike Moore, M. Ravier a souhait?la bienvenue aux 28 fonctionnaires responsables des questions commerciales et leur a d閏lar? “Pour traiter de la mondialisation, il faut 阾re mondial soi-m阭e”. Il a du reste parl? ?ce sujet de la possibilit?d'accro顃re la capacit? de formation de l'OMC, qui est actuellement examin閑 par les Membres de l'OMC dans le cadre de la pr閜aration du budget pour 2001. M. Ravier a 間alement soulign?le vif int閞阾 que M. Mike Moore porte aux activit閟 destin閑s ?am閘iorer la capacit?des pays les moins avanc閟 ?participer au syst鑝e commercial multilat閞al.

C'est la premi鑢e fois que des fonctionnaires venant d'Arm閚ie, de la F閐閞ation de Russie, d'Iran et de Vanuatu participent ?ce type de cours ordinaire.

Les 28 participants venus de pays et de territoires douaniers en d関eloppement vont suivre le cours de 12 semaines qui se terminera le 8 d閏embre 2000. Depuis leur cr閍tion en 1955, 93 cours de politique commerciale ordinaires ont 閠?organis閟 sous l'間ide du GATT puis de l'OMC et pr鑣 de 2 000 fonctionnaires ont pu suivre cette formation. En outre, un certain nombre de cours de politique commerciale de courte dur閑 sont 間alement organis閟 par l'OMC dans le cadre de son programme de coop閞ation technique.
