WTO Chairpersons for 2000
The WTO General Council today (8 February) noted the consensus on the following slate of names of chairpersons for WTO bodies:

| Committee on Trade and Environment | Amb. Yolande Bik? (Gabon) |
| Committee on Trade and Development | Amb. Ransford Smith (Jamaica) |
| Committee on Balance-of-Payments Restrictions | Amb. Milan Hovorka (Czech Republic) |
| Committee on Regional Trading Agreements | Amb. Edsel T. Custodio (Philippines) |
| Committee on Budget, Finance and Admin. | Mr. Hakki Akil (Turkey) |
| Working Group on the Relationship between Trade and Investment | Amb. Man Soon Chang (Korea) |

The General Council also noted that the Chairmanship for the Council on TRIPS will be appointed pending further consultations and taking into account the overall balance of the remaining Chairmanships to be appointed by the Council for Trade in Goods for its Subsidiary Bodies.
