Business

Business, trade and the WTO have always been closely connected. The biggest beneficiary of transparent and predictable trade rules and obligations is the private sector. Without business, there would be no trade and no WTO. Business is an important interlocutor for both governments and the WTO. It is actively involved in the multilateral trading system and participates in public activities of the WTO.

Journalists

The main online service provided by WTO for journalists is the “media newsroom”. This is a password protected area.

NGOs

The WTO maintains regular dialogue with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on various issues related to international trade. The aim is to enhance cooperation and increase NGOs' awareness of WTO activities and the role of the rules-based multilateral trading system.

Parliamentarians

Due to their constitutional role, parliamentarians play an important part in the multilateral trading system and the WTO. Any deal resulting from intergovernmental negotiations at the WTO will, in most cases, need approval from legislators.

Public events

Public Forum

The Public Forum is the WTO’s largest annual outreach event, which provides a platform for participants to discuss the latest developments in world trade and to propose ways of enhancing the multilateral trading system. The event regularly attracts over 1,500 representatives from civil society, academia, business, the media, governments, parliamentarians and inter-governmental organizations.

WTO Open Day

The WTO opened its doors to the public for the first time in 2009, attracting some 5,000 visitors who came to learn more about the WTO, the work of its staff, and the artistic treasures of the Centre William Rappard, the WTO's headquarters in Geneva.

Trade Dialogues

The WTO conducts a series of dialogues with stakeholders, where they can highlight issues they find important.
