ITTC's main objectives are to assist beneficiary countries in:

• enhancing trade capacity
• addressing trade policy issues
• integrating more fully into the multilateral trading system
• exercising the rights of WTO membership
• fully participating in multilateral trade negotiations

These objectives are addressed through the two-year Technical Assistance and Training Plan, which identifies national and regional needs and priorities, projected results, the mechanisms for implementing the training and the sources of funding. Putting the TRTA into action is guided by a results-based management approach, with the aim of enhancing decision-making, transparency and accountability.
