Civil Society Advisory Group
The Civil Society Advisory Group was established in June 2023 as part of a strengthened engagement between the WTO Director-General and civil society. The Group provides an informal platform for the exchange of views and discussions with key stakeholders. It is chaired by the Director-General. The members of the Advisory Group are selected by the Director-General. The composition of the Group takes into account geographical and sectoral diversity as well as gender balance. A list of current members is below.

Jason Braganza — Executive Director of the African Forum and Network on Debt and Development (AFRODAD)
Jason Braganza is the Executive Director of AFRODAD, a Pan-African organization that advocates for debt cancellation and addressing debt-related issues in Africa. He has also served as the Co-Head and Programme Director of Tax at the International Lawyers Project.

Helena Leurent — Director General of Consumers International
Helena Leurent is the Director General of Consumers International, the membership organization for 200+ consumer advocacy groups in over 100 countries. Previously, she was a Managing Director at the World Economic Forum. She also has experience in diverse roles at McKinsey & Co and Tesco Plc.

Gladys Martínez — Executive Director of the Interamerican Association for Environmental Defense (AIDA)
Gladys Martínez is the Executive Director of AIDA, a non-profit organization that uses the law and science to protect the right to a healthy environment in Latin America. She has represented AIDA before international negotiating bodies and championed relationships with governments across the Americas.

Pradeep Mehta — Secretary General of CUTS International
Pradeep Mehta is the founder Secretary General of the Jaipur-based Consumer Unity & Trust Society (CUTS International), a global economic policy research, advocacy and networking NGO established in 1983 in India, with centres in Accra, Geneva, Hanoi, Lusaka, Nairobi and Washington DC. He serves on the G20/B20’s Council on Africa’s Economic Integration.

Andrea Porro — Secretary-General of the World Farmers Organisation
Andrea Porro has 18 years of experience as a project leader and expert in agriculture and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) across 15 countries on four continents. He began his career in agricultural extension services in 2006 after graduating in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Milan, later earning a Master’s in Crop Production and Protection and a PhD in Plant Biology. Dr. Porro has held academic positions at UNIMI and as a professor of agroecology in Sierra Leone. Since 2014, he has worked with international organizations in Afghanistan, Ethiopia, and Nigeria, managing teams of over 50 and projects exceeding $20 million. His roles have involved donor relations, monitoring, evaluation, and fundraising. Most recently, he was Head of Risk Analysis at the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization in Afghanistan. As of January 1, 2024, Dr. Porro is Secretary-General of the World Farmers' Organisation (WFO).

Dr Kirsten Schuijt — Director-General of WWF International
Kirsten joined WWF International in January 2023 to lead and coordinate the federated global conservation organization. Prior to joining WWF International, Kirsten was CEO of WWF-Netherlands for over 6 years transforming it into a highly influential, data-driven conservation organization with a strong focus on resilient landscapes and societal movement.
Kirsten has extensive experience in conservation and leading non-profit organizations, having worked in international conservation for twenty-five years, twenty of which were in various leadership positions in WWF. Prior to WWF, she worked in Kenya and Malawi with local communities on wetland conservation. Throughout her career, Kirsten has had a particular interest in the relationship between nature and socio-economic systems.

Shereen Talaat — Director of MenaFem Movement for Economic, Development and Ecological Justice
Shereen Talat is the Director and Founder of MenaFem, a movement of local and regional organizations dedicated to achieving equitable development and fostering a just, ecologically sustainable feminist economy. In 2022, she was recognized as one of the most influencing voices on climate finance among 10 activists from around the global movement. She is also a distinguished film maker and has experience in media campaigning with various human rights organizations and networks.

Tania Te Whenua — Deputy Chair of Te Taumata Māori Trade Board
Tania Te Whenua is Deputy Chair of the Te Taumata Māori Trade Board. She is also the principal of Te Whenua Law and Consulting, a firm which provides legal and consultancy services to enhance Māori social and economic development in New Zealand.

Luc Triangle — General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC)
Luc Triangle was appointed ITUC Acting General Secretary in April 2023 and was elected ITUC General Secretary at the 6th ITUC Extraordinary World Congress in October 2023. His trade union work began in 1982 in the young workers’ organization of the Confederation of Christian Trade Unions of Belgium (ACV-CSC). He was elected as Deputy General Secretary of IndustriAll European Trade Union in 2012, and then General Secretary in 2016, with a re-election in 2021.
