L'Organisation mondiale de la santé (OMS), l'Organisation mondiale de la propriété intellectuelle (OMPI) et l'Organisation mondiale du commerce (OMC) ont tenu un symposium technique sur l'“innovation et l'accès aux technologies médicales: défis et possibilités pour les pays à revenu moyen” le 5 novembre 2014 à l'OMC, à Genève.

Ce quatrième symposium technique trilatéral a examiné certains défis et possibilités dans les pays à revenu moyen. Ces pays rattrapent leur retard dans le domaine de l'innovation biomédicale et du développement industriel, mais ils sont aussi confrontés à des difficultés pour ce qui est de garantir à leurs populations un accès aux produits de santé innovants.
